Overview
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo, released in 2022. I played it on Nintendo Switch.
I've played Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, and I usually struggle to handle the combat. So I have to admit I particularly enjoyed this entry.
Story and world
The game takes place in Aionios, a world where two nations, Keves and Agnus, wage an endless war. Their soldiers live only ten years, and must harvest the life energy of enemies fallen in battle to survive. You follow Noah, a soldier from Keves, and Mio, a soldier from Agnus, whose groups become bound by a mysterious power that turns them into enemies of their own sides.
As usual, I love the story.
Gameplay
Battles take place in real time, and you can play with six fighters at once, which allows for many combinations. Each character can change class, and pairs of characters can fuse into Ouroboros, giant forms with their own abilities.
The game has good longevity.
Graphics and music
The game offers superb music. The soundtrack is composed by, among others, Yasunori Mitsuda and ACE, and the flute plays an important role in it, tied to the story.
Verdict
A story I love, good longevity and superb music, as usual with the series. Above all, I particularly enjoyed its six-character battles and their many combinations, even though I usually struggle with the series' combat.
