Overview
Visions of Mana is a Japanese action-RPG developed by Ouka Studios and published by Square Enix, released in 2024. It marks the return of the Mana series with a new entry in 3D.
Story and world
You follow Val, a young man tasked with protecting his childhood friend Hinna, who has been chosen to make a pilgrimage to the Mana Tree. Along the way, they are joined by other pilgrims from different regions.
The storytelling is very conventional.
Gameplay
Battles take place in real time, with a party of three characters. The class system is tied to the elemental spirits: by equipping a character with one of the elemental vessels collected throughout the adventure, you change their class, and with it their appearance and abilities. This system offers plenty of build variety.
Graphics and music
The art direction is colourful and very pleasant.
Verdict
Very conventional in its storytelling, but it is a gentle, enjoyable action-RPG.
