Overview
Battlerite is a multiplayer arena brawler developed and published by the Swedish studio Stunlock Studios, released in 2017 on PC after an early access period. It is an "arena brawler": short fights between small teams, seen from above, in an enclosed arena, without the lanes, minions or towers of a MOBA.
Gameplay
Battlerite is a bit like a MOBA, but much smaller in scale and in 3v3. A match is played over several rounds, and the team that wins the most takes it.
Every spell (healing, damage, crowd control) demands precision and has to be aimed properly: you move with the keyboard and aim with the mouse, so a badly aimed spell simply misses.
You have to manage your energy to cast your spells, as well as your HP. Energy is gained by landing your spells and is used to cast empowered versions of your abilities and your ultimate.
There are a lot of characters, split between melee, ranged and support.
Verdict
Honestly, the game was great when I started it in 2023, and I imagine it must still be excellent today.
