Overview
Nikoderiko: The Magical World is a platformer developed and published by VEA Games, released in 2024. The Director's Cut is a re-release of it.
Gameplay
It is a platformer heavily inspired by Donkey Kong Country, right down to its level structure and its minecart sections. You find the same formula: you move through side-scrolling levels, jump on enemies and collect items along the way. The game can also be played in two-player co-op.
It is colourful and well paced.
Graphics and music
The soundtrack is composed by David Wise, the composer of the Donkey Kong Country games, and it does the job.
Verdict
Very classic, but perfectly executed. So far I have only played the demo with my wife.
