Overview
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is an action-RPG published by Square Enix and released in 2022. It is the remastered version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, originally released on PSP, and a prequel to Final Fantasy VII.
Story and world
You play as Zack Fair, a member of SOLDIER, Shinra's elite unit. From the start, the story revolves around the disappearance of Genesis, a SOLDIER First Class.
Getting to play as Zack after playing Final Fantasy VII is a really great idea. You discover new characters and new antagonists such as Genesis.
Gameplay
The game is fairly short without overstaying its welcome, and there is quite a lot of content, even though I did not dig much into the optional content, such as the missions.
In terms of combat it is fairly classic: you can attack, dodge, parry, and use items and spells depending on the materia you have equipped. On top of that, the game features a slot machine, the DMW, which spins continuously during battles and can trigger bonuses or special attacks.
One of the things I liked least, though I have gotten used to it having played almost every Final Fantasy, is the random encounters. I much prefer games like the "Tales of" series, which let the player dodge or engage enemies.
