Overview
Hyrule Warriors: Legends is a hack and slash action game set in the Zelda universe developed by Koei Tecmo and published by Nintendo, released in 2016. I played it on 3DS.
It is the 3DS adaptation of Hyrule Warriors, released on Wii U in 2014, expanded with new characters and new chapters.
I can't tell you much more given how few hours I spent on it: it never really clicked with me.
Story and world
The game brings together characters and locations from several entries in The Legend of Zelda series, such as Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, around a threat looming over Hyrule.
This version notably adds content inspired by The Wind Waker, as well as Linkle, a brand-new character who gets her own storyline.
Gameplay
You get the Dynasty Warriors formula: you take on hundreds of enemies at once on large battlefields, chaining combos and capturing keeps to gain the upper hand.
This version lets you switch from one hero to another directly on the battlefield, to handle several objectives at the same time.
Graphics and music
The soundtrack takes classic themes from the Zelda series and rearranges them in a more rock style to match the pace of the battles.
Verdict
A hack and slash that pays tribute to the Zelda universe, but one that never really clicked with me. I dropped it after only a few hours.
