Overview

Super Mario Party Jamboree is a party game developed by NDcube and published by Nintendo, released in 2024. I played it on Nintendo Switch.

It's a Mario Party that makes up for the stinker that was Super Mario Party.

Story and world

As is often the case in the series, there isn't really a story: Mario and his friends compete on game boards to collect the most stars. Some boards are brand new, others are taken from older entries.

Gameplay

The principle remains that of a board game: you roll the dice, move forward, buy stars, and each turn ends with a minigame.

Compared to Super Mario Party, there are more boards and they are bigger, and there are more minigames too (the game has over 110 of them). Each board brings its own little twist.

The side modes extend the game's longevity, and some of them are pretty cool. For example, there's Koopathlon, an online race for up to 20 players punctuated by minigames.

Graphics and music

The game uses the colourful, polished style of the latest Mario games, and each board has its own visual theme.

Verdict

A Mario Party that more than makes up for Super Mario Party: more boards, bigger ones, more minigames, and side modes that extend the game's longevity.
