Overview
Mario Party Superstars is a party game developed by NDcube and published by Nintendo, released in 2021. I played it on Nintendo Switch.
A nice return to the roots: I really enjoyed this Mario Party and its minigames, unlike Super Mario Party!
Story and world
No real story: the game follows the series' classic formula, where players compete on boards to collect the most stars.
The five boards come from the Nintendo 64 entries, such as Yoshi's Tropical Island and Peach's Birthday Cake.
Gameplay
It's a compilation of old minigames: there are about a hundred of them, taken from across the series' history. It does the job, and it's a lot of fun.
The minigames are played with buttons, and the game also offers online matches.
Graphics and music
The boards and minigames from the older entries have been remade in high definition.
Verdict
A successful return to the roots, which I enjoyed much more than Super Mario Party. A compilation of old minigames that does the job and is a lot of fun.
